Plates for your beautiful table setting
Where to put which plate?
The most important question to ask in setting a table correctly is: where are the dishes, cutlery and glasses placed? Initially, this can lead to confusion when a menu is served, but when you take a closer look it is really effortless. We will help you to become a table setting professional!
How do I set the table properly?
The classic way of setting the table starts with a charger. You start with it and define the seating, it is not used for eating. The dinner plate is placed on top of the charger and the breakfast plate for the starter or the soup bowl on top of it.
The bread plate is positioned to the left of the plates, possibly with a butter knife on top.
When arranging the cutlery: knives are on the right, forks on the left and the pieces are arranged so that you start from the outside and continue towards the inside. Place the dessert fork and spoon above the plates, the spoon on top with the handle to the right, the fork below with the handle to the left.
The glasses are on the right, above the knives, also in order: Water glass, white wine glass, red wine glass.
